COVID Update 02 October 2021

Published Sat 02 Oct 2021

Whilst not a lot has changed with respect to boating and club activities, this is a reminder of the current status of the COVID-19 restrictions as they affect us.

Boating.

  • Recreational boating is permitted as part of your 4 hours of exercise (once a day).
  • The geographical limit is no more than 15 kilometres from your home.
  • Two people maximum in the boat, masked and socially distanced (dependants who cannot be left alone are also permitted).
  • QR code or manual sign-in to the island is required.
  • No competitions.
  • No training sessions.

Clubrooms and outdoor areas.

  • No entry to the clubrooms is permitted. This includes the BBQ area and the showers.
  • No functions are permitted. A 5 person picnic of fully (double) vaccinated adults from no more than two households is allowed.
  • Masks are mandatory and may not be removed to consume alcohol.

Slipway use.

  • As always, must be booked.
  • At the present time a member may not work on his / her own boat in the slipway.
  • A contracted marine trades person is permitted to work in the slip on your boat.

We do not have any dates where these restrictions will be eased. It seems that the earliest easing will be at the 70% double vaccination of the state, currently projected to be around October 26. We don’t know which restrictions will be eased other than that outdoor functions for a maximum of 50 fully vaccinated people will be permitted.

Vaccination.

There are increasingly strong indications that full (double) vaccinations will be required by the State Government for participation in many day-to-day activities, including some run by the club. The club will comply with any applicable government requirements. Members who may have been delaying vaccination may wish to take this into consideration.
