As we are all aware the current lockdown has been extended indefinitely from September 17, 11:59 PM.
Although some restrictions have been modified, most do not affect the club’s activities.
It is worth reviewing the current status.
There are only six reasons to leave your home (You must stay within 10km of your home)
-
shopping for necessary goods and services
-
care and care-giving, including medical care or to get a COVID-19 test
-
exercise (maximum of 4 hrs a day, with either your household or 1 other person)
-
authorised work and permitted study
-
to get a COVID-19 vaccination
-
groups of five from two households can socialise outside if fully vaccinated. The gathering limit will be two people for people who are un-vaccinated or have had one vaccination dose. The 4 hr limit for exercise or social gathering applies.
Can I check if my boat is secure –
Yes, this should be incorporated into your 4hr exercise window. Where you live outside of your 10km radius, you should ask a family member/friend to check on your boat during this time and only attend if it is for emergency reasons that cannot be postponed.
Boat maintenance and repairs –
Self-maintenance (by a non-authorised worker) and repairs should be postponed unless for emergency reasons.
Can I still go sailing?
Boating (including Sailing) and Fishing is outdoor recreation permitted. However, within 10km of your home, within 4 hrs, with a mask, with immediate family or one friend and without requiring a closed venue to be opened.
Can I access my club rooms to have a shower?
No, club rooms are considered a facility and must not be opened. Come prepared and return home to have a shower.
So from the MMYC point of view.
The clubrooms are closed except for the downstairs toilets. This closure includes the BBQ area.
Boating and fishing are permitted as above, but only on an individual basis as part of your four hours / ten kilometre limit of permitted exercise. The club cannot organise, publicise, or otherwise facilitate, any event, race, rally, training or practice session. Members are requested and advised not to put the club, or themselves, at risk by arranging any such event.
The curfew arrangements now in place are unlikely to affect anyone but the most dedicated of after-dark fishermen.
The slipway is closed to members performing self-maintenance. The slipway may be used by contracted permitted workers performing maintenance on members’ boats. The member owning the boat may not be involved in this maintenance.
Masks are required at all times indoors and outdoors. There is a requirement that masks may not be removed to consume alcohol. Members are reminded that this effectively prohibits the consumption of alcohol outdoors on club grounds.
