We received the following information and invitation yesterday from Bob Pearce at the Albert Park Yachting and Angling Club.

Shellfish Reef Restoration Forum

Hi to our neighbouring angling clubs,

By now, I am sure that you would have heard about the Shellfish Reef Restoration project in Port Phillip Bay. To enable you to hear about the progress and effectiveness of the project to date, there will be an Information Forum at our clubrooms, which are on the foreshore at Albert Park, right next to the Kerferd Road Pier.

Since the project commenced in Port Phillip Bay, it has been replicated throughout Australia with great success.

The project in Port Phillip Bay continues to expand in terms of both the number and size of the reefs. On all sites there has been an amazing increase in fish numbers and marine biodiversity. Click on to this link to see a 30 second underwater video taken at one of the sites:

Please feel welcome to join The Nature Conservancy’s Information Forum on the 19th July at 17:00 – 18:30 to learn about our shellfish reef projects in Port Phillip Bay.

You’ll find out how the reefs are constructed and how they’re rejuvenating nature and the local community. Reef locations will also be available.

We will also be taking a deep dive into restoration plans, monitoring outcomes to date, and leaving plenty of time for you to ask questions.

RSVP is essential as spaces are limited. Please reserve your spot by emailing andrew.dunlop@tnc.org or click on this link:

Further information is available by return e-mail or telephone queries: 0419568111.

As above, numbers are strictly limited, so secure your place at the Forum by booking as soon as possible.

Cheers

Bob Pearce
