We have received the following email and attached documents which may be of interest to members, from Kingston Council.
I am writing to inform you of upcoming fencing installation along Mordialloc Creek as a stakeholder who might have an interest in the space.
Unfortunately during COVID we have had huge numbers of people accessing the sensitive, remnant vegetation along Mordialloc Creek which has resulted in significant damage. Over the last few years we’ve tried a number of different strategies to discourage use including media, social media, signage and physical barriers (such as large fallen logs) – none of these have been effective. So in order to allow these ecosystems a chance to recover we’ve made the difficult decision to fence these areas to prevent access.
Please see the attached signage which will be installed on site this week and the information bulletin has some further information.
Works will commence early November and should be completed by the end of the month.
We will continue to monitor vegetation health to determine when it can be removed but it is likely to be some years.
Please reach out should you have any questions or concerns.
