Update from the Sailing Director.

Published Fri 08 Oct 2021

Hi Folks

We have an indicative date of November 5 that we can get back to competitive sport, i.e. racing.

So, fingers crossed, from Sunday Nov 7 to Thursday Dec 16 we will be having a points race every Thursday and Sunday to make up for some lost time.

The creek mouth has just been dredged so the low tide weeks shouldn't be a safety issue ... however they may be an issue for boats (particularly those east of the footbridge) actually getting out of their moorings, so those affected may ask for average points for those races so that they aren't penalised in the race for trophies.

After Dec 16 there'll be a break in points races until Jan 9 to allow for Christmas break ... during that break there will be fun races or cruises, depending on demand.

From January we will most likely get back to fortnightly points races, with fun races or cruises in between on low tide weeks

Also late in November we will schedule our annual sailing meeting, which we missed out on last year. Start thinking now about anything you'd like to bring up at the meeting, and whether you'd like to take a more active role in the running of things.

At some stage we'll also need to set aside some time for trophy presentations for the 2020-21 summer races (only) that went ahead without much interruption.

Cheers,

Peter
