History of Boat Building in Mordialloc

DON SHIELDS - a man of the creek.

Don had a fibreglass boat building business in Spray Avenue. He built John Allnutts White and Yellow Hire boats which you still see around. One is in the Club.

He joined Mordialloc Sailing Club on the Island in 1949 and is a Lifetime Honorary Member of MSC. He is also a Sandringham Yacht Club member and has participated in 16 Sydney to Hobart Races, the first one in the early 1980s.

Don is a close friend of our Life Member Peter Allnutt, and although he has long since retired, he visits when he can.
